This event featured an engaging conversation between Dr. Ayana Elizabeth Johnson and Dr. Rowie Kirby-Straker on the growing significance of climate change and its relationship to feminist activism. The discussion offered attendees an insight into the need for an intersectional approach to the climate change movement and spoke to the importance of having diverse voices and leaders. Dr. Johnson highlighted the crossroads of climate justice with issues of racial justice, gender equity, and socioeconomic equity. She unpacked the ways in which climate change impacts everyone and emphasizes the idea that everyone should be included in this conversation. It is crucial to amplify diverse sources and include all narratives in order to illustrate different perspectives and experiences. This will give us “a full cornucopia of ways forward” in this effort of saving and protecting our planet.
