Love is in the air! At this month’s G-Chat we got together to talk about Valentine’s Day, showing affection, and celebrating care without consumerism. From family affairs to chocolates and bears, it seems that Valentine’s Day and championing love comes in forms both platonic and romantic, and certainly still holds community significance. – Kate Pearson

Finding Your Way Workshop Series
The second session of Finding Your Way was focused around learning about information interviews and how to ask the right questions to get the answers you really need. The workshop did a great job of emphasizing the strength of tapping into your network, discerning how to express your values in a professional setting, feeling able to ask the important questions, and practicing self-awareness to gauge if a decision is right for you. Finding Your Way has given me the opportunity to think about how I want to advocate for my own values throughout my career and beyond. – Maggie Kuhn
Voting Rights: What the 19th Forgot
This event featured an engaging discussion about the 19th Amendment and the continuous struggle that women face in regards to their right to vote led by Dr. Melissa Harris-Perry. It was enlightening to see how far women have come, while also acknowledging how far we as a society have to go. One point that was particularly interesting was the statistic on voter turnout since the 2008 election. Despite the fact that black women have experienced the greatest obstacles in gaining the right to vote, they have consistently had some of the highest rates of voter turnout in comparison to other social identities. Attendees left this event feeling empowered and ready to have their voices heard in this upcoming election! – Taryn Douglas
